Getting creative with Fibre Artist – Colette Davies

I just love it when creative opportunities present themselves! I recently had the pleasure of working with the inspiring and wonderful Colette from Colette Davies Fibre Artist. Colette is an amazing woman with a passion for gathering self-sourced, raw materials from our local area. She loves exploring local beaches to gather and repurpose sea plastics (such as Ogmore) and woodlands (such as Kingswood, Monmouth) to gather not only inspiration for her hand-made products, but the raw materials too!

When Colette approached me for a product photoshoot, it’s safe to say that I was… delighted! The brief of the photoshoot was to capture a range of long distance product shots as well as some super detailed, intricate product shots too. I packed up my car with my portable studio to take all of my equipment straight to Colette’s door (I know… convenient, right?!). Colette showed me the products and the intricate details of what she wanted me to capture. Then she was able to sit back and let me… ‘do my thing’. I photographed roughly twelve of her beautiful handmade baskets, wall hangings and jewellery against my clean, white backdrop and what a delight it was!
